One Year Later.......

Today we sadly hit the 1 Year Anniversary of the passing of sweet lil' Jacob. Chris had sent me these pictures of our last days together, that she had on her phone. I treasure having this night, and our memories, together. I value the fact our kids know what true friendship means. As sad as it was to see one of their best friends die, it also brought a whole new appreciation to what exactly that means, true friendship. At this visit, he had just been re-admitted to the hospital the day before after being there for an illness the week before, not quite knowing all that was going on at the moment. By the next day, everything changed for the worse & he was diagnosed with cancer. It's still so hard to understand, as it all happened so fast. He was excited to get to leave the room & get to go buy something at the gift shop. We thought it was pretty cool that Spidy just happened to be visiting Primary Children's Hospital that night! :}

 I have thought a lot about him since he passed, which sadly was only within 2 months of being diagnosed. He truly was such a sweet soul. I believe he is watching over the family, and all of us "extended family". I treasure this Saturday afternoon we had at Murray Park, which was only days before he was admitted. The kids just all played together, as Jacob watched while he rested.
I loved his smile! :}
 One of my favorite pics, which was our last camping trip together (that is something we've all done together since the kids were born!). I was trying to get the view of the sun setting on Strawberry Reservoir & asked Jacob if he'd just get in the pic, as long as he was standing there, as we were talking about kid stuff. You never know when a moment may become a memory you treasure later!
 His siblings miss him dearly! They mean a lot to us, and I'm glad that my kids get to be there for them. We hope they always know that! :}
Many of us girls were in Mexico as this all happened. We had left Manzanillo with the news that he had gotten the transplant, and would be going into surgery. We were so excited! We didn't have good service; but, figured we'd check in when we got to Puerta Vallarta, and hear everything went great with the surgery. Unfortunately that's not how it went. We arrived to finally get the message he didn't pull through. Our hearts sank. Here we were enjoying a miraculous vacation, surrounded by such beautiful scenery, and we were so far away from our families, when we wanted to be there most. We got settled & decided we needed to chill on the beach for a while. I had to send off my goodbyes. I honestly felt his spirit, and the comfort that everything would be OK.
  Jacob...you will never be forgotten! Thanks for watching over us!
